Love is in the Air
Well it has been sometime since I posted, which to me is a good sign......that means I have been busy!!! which I have. I am working on so many projects at the same time. I have done many small encaustic works and I have been working on a self portrait series, PLUS getting proposals out for shows with & with-out lectures or presentations on the Because of Wichita series. I have also been looking for a part time job as well. I really hope that my open studio on June 21st goes very well ( financially and attendance ).
Olympia is blooming more everyday. I have cut several types of very colorful flowers, their smell reminds me of all the years I lived in New Orleans.............SIGH
It seems that most people I know are finding partners or they are getting married....LOVE IS IN THE AIR.
till next time......

False Spring

Today I have A False Spring, from Ernest Hemingway's A Movable Feast. brewing in my head. The first paragraph is fitting for this moment in time, for me, since I would like to pack away woolen sweaters and socks, but, given the weather here Mother Nature would surely laugh in my face. My favorite sentence is the last in the paragraph " People were always the limiters of happiness except for the very few that were as good as spring itself.";
I also have a news brief from San Fran. About a dead whale under the pier The news reporter, to me, came across as rather cold about it. Question......Could the whale have gotten stuck because the pier was there in the first place???? another humankind contribution to the demise of harmless and fascinating creatures.

Downtown Olympia
The window looks good at Doria's I wish I could have had Fur, the movie about Diane Arbus playing somewhere along all the gowns, shoes and shiny things.
Nasa has released some images of galaxies colliding, I think they are awesome, could be some source of inspiration...

An Art Movie
I would reccommend this movie to any artist. My favorite part was when they compared the 4 year old to Jackson Pollock, who in my opinion painted drunken temper tantrums!!! . The lesson to be learned from the movie................ IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MARKETING, make sure you have a HOOK.

Knitting and Recycled Clothing

I figured for todays post I would comment on other art forms. Knitting and recycled clothing. The purple wrap my mother knitted for me is beautiful; Isadora Duncan would be envious, it's over 6 ft. long, soft and a wonderful shade of purple. There are also flowers in the design/pattern. The dress I'm wearing in the other photo, was an unintended gift. It's a slip that has lace enhanced features. Some of the lace is antique. The dress is the creation of Nalo Hopkinson, the writer. I believe she still sells her craft on ETSY. I have placed a link to her blog with this post.
