Roots and Nests

The open studio went OKAY. The weather was great ( for Oly.). There were maybe 20ish people that showed. I really think that the state of current economics had a hand in it. I have started working on some other encaustic pieces with roots and some with nests; I of course have over thought the pieces, but that's me. I know that the roots are grounding and stability; The nests, well home. I find it strange that one of the nests has 2 eggs I noticed this after I started working on it..... the mind and it's deep recesses are profound to me ( has a way of just throwing stuff out there, I LOVE IT).This relationship that I am in is having a wonderful and interesting input on my art. I am looking forward to seeing what other beautiful and fantastic paintings transpire from it.

The Sun Shines Through

I just love it when life takes on these interesting turns, by this I mean I've been busy in the studio and networking on behalf of my business/art. I have picked up an art student!! I'm so very happy about that since I like teaching art. I think I might have also picked up a commission for a figurative painting. I am starting to get back into my regular routine of keeping up with my Friday blog posts. I worked on more of the encaustic pieces yesterday and today. I think the 6 x 6 ones are the strongest in the small encaustic series. I do hope they sell. I also ran into the fellow that did the squid I mentioned before; He and some of his musician friends will hopefully come to the open studio and play!!! that would be fantastic!!!

Is it really June???

Take a deep breath. I have worked on ( lots ) of 6 x 6 encaustics. They are a new small series 1 set of doors, another are dolls with bones and some of birds and nature. I am getting really excited about the studio event ( June 21, 10 - 10 ). I am happy with myself for not being my "normal" psycho self; I usually feel that way before any opening, but life is GRAND!! I went to the Artist Garage sale here in town 2 weekends ago ( SCORED BIG!! ). I also went to several music related events, the fish fry at Steam Boat Island Grange KICKED some serious ass!!! I loved all the music, but I had a particular attraction to The Blackberry Bushes, Mudcat and Cabin Kind. I was also able to acquire a great pastel giant squid ( I LOVE IT ). The whole event, weekend made me feel home sick for some of my very dear and special coven family.
I find it hard to believe that it's JUNE!! I'm still wearing sweaters and warm stuff??? solstice is just 11 days away hummm. Well on a final note........................
20 years ago today I gave birth to an almost 10 pound baby boy; HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODD!!

DIG my new true knee highs....wicked!!
